Birthday Weekend

Friday May 21st my "baby" boy turned "2"!! I can't believe 2 years ago he was 6lbs 9oz and now he's 28lbs and talking up a storm. Matt took Friday off and we all headed up to the Jacksonville Zoo. We decided to hit the train ride first because Michael absolutely loves trains and loves Thomas and Friends. After the train ride we made our way around the park and as we got to Michael's favorite animal "ping" (aka penguin), he fell sound asleep. So we walked around and around until he finally woke up. We went back to the penguins and several other stops before we ended up at the sting ray pool. Michael loved seeing and touching the sting rays.












When we got home we had some family members come over for cake and ice cream. We did the Thomas and Friends theme. My girlfriend Tara came over Thursday and helped me bake a carrot cake and we tried to make the cream cheese icing look like grass, but it came out looking a little on the mint color. He got lots of nice things and enjoyed playing with Willie. Willie would crawl over and get a toy and start to play with it and Michael would grab at it and say "Mine Willie". That part of the turning two is not fun, but he will soon understand that he has to share his toys.





Saturday we loaded up and spent a wonderful day at Blue Run with all the cousins. You couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day and it's always fun getting together with the crew. We put Michael in a boat float and Willie sat behind him and they had a blast being pulled all around. Madelyn thought the water was a little to cold for her liking, but once her feet went numb she was fine. ha





Sunday was another amazing day. It was the first day in the new Church of God. You talk about emotional watching the alters from the old Church being carried in and placed in the new Church. The service was so good along with the dedication of the Church that was later on that afternoon. To end such a wonderful weekend we had William, Stephanie and Willie over for dinner or what we always call "our family night" and enjoyed spending time together.




I'm so thankful to all you helped make Michael's birthday so much fun and to Michael though you can't read this, that I love you so much and so thankful that God gave you to me to raise. You will always be my sweet "baby" boy no mater what age you turn.

Mother's Day Weekend

Mama called me Saturday morning and told me about a parade that was taking place in Micanopy. I might have the story wrong, but I think Micanopy has a parade every year recognizing that their town was part of the movie "Doc Hollywood" and so they have a parade with a pig in it along with the old cars that looked just like the ones in the movie. So we loaded up the children and headed that way. The parade was cute. David Snyder was walking the pig. Funny story, Matt and I have always called him "Wing Nut" so it took me a minute to remember his real name. He is a good anchor, but bless his heart his ears stick out just a little, like a wing nut.



Michael and Madelyn got to meet Albert and Alberta for the first time. Michael walked right up to Albert and gave him his lolly pop that he hadn't opened yet. Albert tried giving it back but Michael didn't want it so I told Albert just to keep it. Mama had cute pictures on her camera, but these will have to do.



Saturday night we had our mother's over for dinner and I brought out my China for the first time. I kept telling myself I would use it for special occasions, but couldn't justify a "special occasion" so I finally said our mother's are special and so I brought them out. Matt grilled King fish and steak and we had squash & Zucchini, green beans, cheese grits, cheesy garlic biscuits and yellow cake with chocolate icing for dessert. It was very good and our mother's loved it.







Mother's Day morning Michael came in the room with a card and a Helzberg Diamond box. It was a sweet pendant of a mother and child. Matt walked in holding Madelyn and she was holding another Helzberg Diamond box. When I opened that it had the matching pendant except it was a ring. So SWEET!!









After church we went to Mama and Daddy's house and had lunch. My brother's Davy and Luke came over and Nana, Daddy's mama. Daddy asked Luke to say the blessing and when he got to the end he thanked the Lord for his Fiancee!!! That was Luke's way of telling us he's getting MARRIED!! We are so excited and they've already set the wedding date for Sept. 17th of this year. While I'm sharing that exciting news I think it's safe to share this news too.... My oldest brother Davy and his fiancee are having a BABY!!! Sherry is finding out the sex of the baby May 27th. They are telling people but they haven't posted it on Facebook yet so I've been waiting to tell. Then I got to thinking and everyone that reads my blog knows Facebook etiquette (that you don't post something on their page until they post about it themselves).





All in all it was a good day and I don't think that we should have a set "Mother's Day", I just think we should always celebrate our mothers and count our blessings each day.
