Big Boy Bed

When Michael turned 2 back in May I told Matt that I really wanted to put him straight into bunk beds. I wanted a twin on top with a full on the bottom so we would have a guest bed. I didn’t want the metal kind because I can’t stand to hear anything “squeaking”. Matt put me on a budget (he knows that if he didn’t I would have my mind set on Pottery Barn Kids) which meant I needed to start looking on Craigslist or Ocala4sale.

Below is the one I would LOVE to have from Pottery Barn:

Bunk Bed

IMG_5685I’ve been praying that I would find something just perfect that didn’t cost my entire budget so that I could buy cute sheets and comforters. The Lord always comes through in his perfect timing!! Just this past week (Thursday to be exact) Michael had figured out how to climb out of his crib. He’s been climbing in but never out. On Friday I said another prayer that we would find one, especially since I knew Matt didn’t have any plans for Saturday. I got on Craigslist and there it was. After making sure it was never smoked around (yuck) I told the lady we would come out and she also came down on the price.

When we got there she told us that her and her husband build log cabins and used these bunk beds for staging in one of the log cabins up in North Carolina. She bought them brand new including mattresses and quilts just to be staged and practically gave it away to us. I was super excited that not only did we get a steal, but that I had money left over to buy the sheets and comforters…. Here I come Target. Later that evening we went to Target and I allowed Michael to pick out his sheets and comforters. At first he wanted Iron Man sheets so I encouraged him to choose between Star Wars and Toy Story and luckily his chose Toy Story. He did however pick out super cute comforters. He slid it off the shelf and looked up at us and said “I want this” and attempted to put it in the shopping cart. We had several family members from both sides come over on Sunday and he made sure he showed everyone his bed by telling them “That’s MY bed”.

So here is Michael’s big boy beds.

He had just woke up from his nap so he wasn’t too thrilled with me making his bed and having him lay back up there for a picture. ha

Once was blind but now I see….

Well not exactly, but I did have Lasik eye surgery back in June. I was near sided with a stigmatism in my right eye. I have been wanting it done, but I had to save up some money first. So…. several years later I finally had it done and WOW what a difference.

It’s so amazing to look out my back window and see individual leaves, blades of grass, see road signs, watch TV and not having my children yanking my glasses off my face. I told Matt I feel like I’m seeing in HD now and of course he thinks for the money we spent on this procedure I should be seeing everything in HD for the rest of my life. Ha

These two pictures were taken the day of my surgery after most of the pain had worn off. After my surgery I had to keep my eyes closed for at least 3 hours. Luckily I had Stephanie and Mama helping me by taking care of the children. Stephanie made me lunch and I’m glad I trusted her enough not to play a joke on me and serve me something horrible. Try eating with your eyes shut… it can be interesting. If you are wanting to sport my sexy look I will allow you to borrow my “ski goggles”.

I look awful with no makeup on, but it sure was worth it. I couldn’t wear makeup for a couple of days prior to surgery or wear any eye makeup for a week after surgery. I had never before looked forward to putting my entire face on. I felt ALIVE!! That’s pretty horrible to feel that way, but after looking in the mirror for almost 2 weeks with nothing on my face and thinking how sick I look it felt great to look pretty again.

This was the last picture I took wearing my glasses. I didn’t have my camera with me the day I had surgery, so this will have to work.

Good bye glasses!!!
