Madelyn turned the BIG “1”!!!

IMG_6152

I can’t believe Madelyn is 1 year old as of yesterday!! Wow, the time sure does fly by. She was born Dec. 7th at 12:46pm. She weighed 7lbs 11oz and yesterday her doctor said she’s 19lbs 3oz. She got a very good report and showed Dr. Lisa that she can walk. She didn’t like her diaper being off while sitting on the scale so she T-T’ed (not sure how you would spell that) all on the scale.

Here she is waiting for her doctor appointment.

Madelyn says: Mama, dada, baba, hi, and bye along with a lot of jibber jabber that only Michael understands. She is walking whenever she’s in the mood. Loves to climb, eat, play under the Christmas tree, LOVES bath time and music!!

Saturday, Dec. 4th we had a breakfast party for little miss. I think the breakfast party worked a lot better for me because I only stressed for 2 hours before the party instead of several hours leading up to it.

We served a breakfast casserole, blueberry and banana nut muffins, spiced bread, and fruit. This was my first time ever making a true birthday cake. I made a little something for Michael on his 2nd b-day, but nothing like this. I thought it turned out pretty cute and it tasted really good!

Madelyn got a lot of really nice things. Her Daddy wanted to get her something special from him only so he went out and got her a jewelry box and had her name engraved on top. It has Swarovski crystal’s on it to give it a beautiful sparkle.

This is one of the cutest outfits that her Aunt Stephanie made her.

Madelyn LOVED her birthday cake. Needless to say, we had cake all over the balloons, me, the tablecloth, on Maddie’s clothes and all in her hair. She got to do a little repeat of it last night on her birthday and made an even bigger mess. This time Michael helped her destroy the cake.

After she got cleaned up from her cake and her party ended, she played on the table with all her gifts.

Project: Dresser

My Mama recently cleaned out my closet from my old room. It was a big walk in closet and in the back of it was a white dresser. When she told me she cleaned the closet out I told her I wanted the dresser for Madelyn’s room. She got it out and realized that it could use a fresh coat of paint and there were a few spots of glue and paint that would need to be scrapped off.

Normally when I get something and I’m suppose to refinish it or I have a little project, I will drag my feet. But since little Miss is having a birthday party and I want her room to look nice, I had no choice but to start on it.

Saturday afternoon Daddy brought it over and I began working on it. In no time I had it washed down, scrapped a few things off of it and painted it white. Yesterday morning I put it all back together and there you go….a new dresser. I already had the white paint from the dining room so all I did was spend time on it. Can’t beat that!!!

While we were up there we went to an Apple Orchard and they had the neatest wooden playground. I want to go back up there and take Michael so he can play on the playground.

The real reason the Gator’s won the FL/GA game is because Aidan was sporting his Gator cap. Ha

Matthew and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary Oct. 2nd. What better way to celebrate then to go on a trip with William and Stephanie to the Alabama/Florida game. We had a great time being with Stephanie and William was fun once he got over his illness that I gave him. 8-(

I won’t go into detail about the game and Stephanie already shared our trip on her blog: http://theroadlesstraveled-thewhitehursts.blogspot.com/2010/10/road-trip-with-great-friends-good-times.html

Yamato’s Experience

Michael went to Yamato’s Japanese Steakhouse with Matt a few weeks ago to celebrate his Uncle Mark’s (Matt’s brother) birthday. Note: If you go to Yamato’s on your birthday and have proof that it’s your birthday, you meal is FREE!!!  While Matt and Michael were at Yamato’s, Madelyn and I were at a small baby shower for my brother Davy.

Matt got Michael’s experience on camera.

By the way, this is my first video upload… hope it comes out ok.

Have a great day!!

Traylor/Reitzel Wedding

My middle brother Luke got married this past weekend. Him and his bride, Bethany were married on Friday in Winter Park, FL. The location was the Farmers Market which I thought was a bit funny cause around here it’s tents pitched and veggies/fruit stands everywhere. Down there, it was really nice and reminded me of where the Hippodrome of Gainesville is located (minus the bums).

I tell you, it was very hard not to “nasty” cry at his wedding. I have always been close to Luke so seeing him Friday all dressed up and about to get married I just about lost it. Luke felt the same way on my wedding day so I think he sympathized with me on what I was going through. I’ve got a lump in my throat just typing this. Moving on, Bethany’s brother married them and made the ceremony so intimate. For example after Luke said he took Bethany to be his wife and so forth, he asked my parents if they would take Bethany as their daughter and to love her, etc. Their ceremony was absolutely beautiful to say the least.

Here are a few pictures that we had and if you want to see what their photographer did here is his link.

Keys Vacation

Matthew is the best man for his brother Mark who’s getting married Sept. 25th. Being a best man you plan a bachelor party. Matthew decided on the Keys because Mark LOVES to fish or lobster (they are in season) and Jimbo (Mark’s BFF) has the boat to get them around. The only way to rent a house in the Keys is for a week so we decided to have all the guys go down there and stay Saturday-Tuesday. We ended up getting this place in Marathon.

iphone pics 108

On Tuesday afternoon Torie (Jimbo’s wife) and I flew down to Key West. It ended up being us 4 along with 2 other guys that decided to stay the rest of the week. We all had a great time in Key West. Torie or I have ever been that far down so it was fun walking around and seeing the sights.

The next day we went out to 7mile bridge and caught 22 lobsters. Torie and I were snorkeling but didn’t get any lobsters. Matt was swimming around the bridge when he almost ran into a 6ft nurse shark. Needless to say he the two were scared of each other so they went separate ways. He also had a sting ray swim underneath him. Me, I only saw small schools of small fish.

The rest of the vacation was truly relaxing. Eat, swim, read a book, go out on the boat, and relax. We decided on Thursday evening that we would go night fishing. We didn’t have much luck, but did get to see an amazing sunset.

We had to be out of the house by Saturday, but decided we would leave early Friday morning since Torie and I had to get back to leave Saturday morning for Christina’s (my future sis-in-law) bachelorette party in Jacksonville. We left around 10am and decided that we would take the scenic route home and also save $70. in tolls…alligator ally here we come.

We were having a great time until we ran out of gas towards the end of ally. We siphoned gas out of a hookah (a device that pumps oxygen so you can dive down 60feet) and got a whole 1 gallon of gas. Now we are back on the road and can see the board that has a gas station on it in the distance. We get to going and next thing I know we are pulling back over and are now just coasting. We were just praying that we would make it, but ended up stopping right at the off ramp.

Matt and Jimbo had 2 options. They could cut up an expensive hose to get gas out of the boat or they could walk a mile to the station. They chose walk and right as they head off on foot, here comes super trooper flying up next to them. Matt hopped in the back and off they went. We kept watching for them to come back onto the interstate and when we did super trooper was flying up the on ramp and rather then go up to a turn spot he decided to hit the ditch at 60-70mph and crosses over 3 lanes of traffic and slams on his brakes directly behind the boat. I jumped out of the car and said I had to get Matt’s picture before he got out. Super trooper told Matt that he owns a 4x4 truck and he would NEVER do what he does in his cop car like jumping ditches and such. iphone pics 158

After getting gas we hit a few traffic jams before we finally got home around 9pm. It was a LONG ride home but it was a good thing we had wonderful company and could laugh about our mishaps.

Have a great weekend!!
